The Cassiar Road from Holloway Bar on Vimeo.
The Cassiar Road (The Story of a Mine on a Mountain Top) is a film commissioned by the Cassiar Asbestos Company in 1960 as a promotional tool. It would have been forgotten to history if not for an old-time Cassiar resident who, on a trip back to the old townsite some time after the mine closed, discovered a discarded16mm film on the floor of one of the few remaining abandoned buildings. He picked it up and brought it back to civilization where he had it digitized and put onto a DVD. He kindly provided us with a copy to share with the world and preserve. The Cassiar Mine closed in the early 1990’s with most of the town buildings being auctioned off, disassembled and hauled away. Enjoy this piece of history and a look into a different time!
