Howard’s Place !

default

Howard worked all summer long at filling his yard up with stuff ! Over just the last few years it is showing. This winter it was running around -38c to -40c for the month of February. I keep a eye on him, I know every 4 to 5 days he has to fill up the fuel drum out side with five gallon cans that he has ready to go. He heats with a oil burning stove. I am up threw the night putting wood in the wash house and garage stoves. At 3am I looked over and saw very little heat vapour ! At 6am I saw no heat and no Howard around. By 10am I went over and pounded on his door and heard nothing and then a low Help !! I tried the door and it was unlocked I opened it and then knew he was in trouble. The place is so so full of stuff I ripped home got a mask on and ripped back and in I went !! Wow it felt like I was back under ground, I worked my way to the back were the stove was and his sleeping area and NO Howard ! What had happen was he had built a big shelf  over his bed and it came down on top of him burying him alive ! Face down I just saw the top of his head ! I felt panic like right now. I settled down and he was talking to me and he had been there trapped for four days ! Wow I knew he was in need of big time help ! I ripped out and Christina was by the open window I told her to get help coming ! The Ambulance and Fire Rescue were on the way ! The boys got in there and with jacks lifted the load off of him, got him out where the Ambulance Team could work on him and get him on the way to the Hospital ! He was there a very short time and then in came the Medevac Airplane and off he went to the Big Hospital in Whitehorse. He was alive but was in a lot of trouble. He was frozen from being buried . One arm, both legs bad shape. It has been two months now and the report I get from his brother is they’re  working on saving one of his legs. Wow I feel so blessed that I was watching, he would have not made one more cold night. How does it feel to save a life. Well it felt like I could jump ten feet in the air. To have his Family thank me hit home how every life matters ! God bless Howard And His Family.
